Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most from our clients
How long does it take to build my website?
Most projects are completed in about one week. After our initial discovery call, we move quickly through design, build, and launch. Larger or more complex sites may take a few extra days, but we’ll always give you a clear timeline upfront.
I get all my leads from Yelp and Google Maps. Why do I need a website?
Yelp and Google Maps are great lead sources, but you don’t control them. Your competitors’ ads show up right next to your listing, reviews can be filtered unpredictably, and the platform can change its rules anytime. A website is digital real estate you own — no competitor ads, no algorithm surprises. Plus, when someone Googles your business name, a professional site builds instant trust. Think of it this way: Yelp gets you discovered, your website closes the deal.
How does payment work?
The website build is a one-time payment of $2,500, with half due upfront to get started and the remaining half due at launch. The $59/month hosting and care plan is billed monthly after your site goes live. No long-term contracts — you can cancel the monthly plan anytime.
Do I need to provide my own content?
Yes, you’ll need to provide text, photos, and information about your services. We’ll give you a clear content checklist and can help you adapt existing materials like brochures or your Google Business Profile. If you need professional copywriting, we can recommend trusted partners who specialize in that.
What’s not included in the website build?
Our sites start from proven templates that we customize to match your brand — but we don’t do full custom design from scratch. We don’t include e-commerce, online booking systems, blog setup, logo design, photography, or copywriting services. We also don’t provide ongoing SEO campaigns, Google Ads management, or custom web applications. If you need any of these, we’re happy to discuss options or refer you to trusted partners.
Can I make changes after the site goes live?
Absolutely. Our monthly hosting plan includes minor content updates, so if you need to change your phone number, add a new service, or update photos, just let us know and we’ll take care of it — usually within one business day.
What about my domain name?
If you don’t have a domain yet, we’ll register one for you as part of the $2,500 build fee. If you already own a domain, we’ll connect it to your new site. Either way, annual domain renewal is included in your $59/month subscription, so you never have to worry about it expiring.
Will my website show up on Google?
Yes. Every site we build includes foundational SEO setup — proper page titles, meta descriptions, fast load times, mobile-friendly design, and an XML sitemap. This gives your business a strong starting point for showing up in local search results.
What’s included in the monthly hosting plan?
For $59/month you get reliable hosting, SSL certificate, security monitoring, performance monitoring, content updates whenever you need them, and priority support. It’s your website’s maintenance crew — we keep everything running smoothly so you can focus on your business.
My business runs on word of mouth. Do I really need a website?
Word of mouth is powerful, but here’s what happens next: someone gets your name from a friend and immediately Googles you. If they find nothing — or a bare-bones Facebook page — they move on to the next plumber who looks legit online. A website turns those warm referrals into actual phone calls. It’s not replacing word of mouth, it’s making sure it actually converts.
What happens if I cancel? Do I own the code?
You can cancel anytime, but code ownership depends on how long you’ve been with us. After 12 months of service, you can request a free code transfer to take full ownership. If you need the code earlier, there’s a $1,000 buyout fee. Without a code transfer, your site goes offline when you cancel, but you keep all your content (text, images, branding). See our Terms of Service for complete details.
Can’t I just use a Facebook page instead of a website?
A Facebook page is better than nothing, but it’s not yours. Facebook controls who sees your posts, changes its layout constantly, and buries your contact info behind menus. A website puts your phone number front and center, loads instantly, and shows up when people search for your services on Google. Social media is great for staying visible — but your website is home base.
What happens after my site goes live?
You go back to running your business. We handle everything from here — hosting, security, updates, and any content changes you need. If your phone number changes, you add a new service, or you want fresh photos, just shoot us a message. Your site stays fast, secure, and working for you while you focus on what you do best.
I’m a one-person operation. Am I too small for a website?
You’re exactly who we built this for. A clean, professional website makes a one-person shop look every bit as credible as a bigger company. Customers don’t care how many trucks you have — they care that you look trustworthy, answer the phone, and show up on time. A website signals all of that before you ever pick up the call.
I already have a website but it’s not bringing in business. Would a redesign help?
Almost always, yes. An outdated or slow site can actually hurt you — customers bounce, Google ranks you lower, and you lose calls to competitors with cleaner sites. A redesign focused on speed, mobile experience, and clear calls to action can make a real difference in how many people find you and actually pick up the phone.
My current website isn’t generating any leads. What’s going wrong?
Usually it’s one of a few things: the site is slow, it doesn’t work well on phones, your phone number is buried, or Google can’t find it because the SEO basics are missing. We build every site with these problems solved from day one — fast load times, mobile-first design, your number front and center, and solid on-page SEO so you actually show up in local search results.
How often should my website be updated?
Your site should always have accurate info — services, phone number, service areas. Beyond that, fresh content helps with Google rankings, so even small updates like adding a new photo or tweaking your service list can make a difference. The good news: content updates are included in your monthly plan, so just let us know when something changes and we’ll handle it.
Why does it matter if my website works on phones?
Most of your customers are searching for you on their phone — often right when they need help. If your site is hard to read, slow to load, or the phone number isn’t tappable, they’ll hit the back button and call someone else. Every site we build is mobile-first, meaning it’s designed for phones from the start, not squeezed down as an afterthought. Google also ranks mobile-friendly sites higher in search results.
What makes a website actually work for a small business?
It comes down to a few things: it loads fast, it looks professional on any device, your phone number and services are immediately visible, and Google can find it. No clutter, no confusing menus, no stock-photo overload. We focus on clean design, clear calls to action, and the basics done right — because for a local service business, that’s what turns visitors into phone calls.
